I was really looking forward to shooting Gwen and Josh’s wedding day. I had talked to Gwen a few times in the months leading up to the day, and she was so sweet and genuine, I knew she was going to make the perfect bride, which would make me a very happy wedding photographer 🙂
They got married in the backyard of a beautiful residence in Canyon Lake, Texas. The setting was beautiful, luscious green grass, mature trees and the Guadalupe River in the background. It was a rainy day in March, and we weren’t even sure if we were going to be able to have the ceremony outside. Fortunately, the rain cleared up and the weather ended up being perfect.
The ring on the left? That’s the wedding band that Josh is using. It was his grandfathers. I love then couples use sentimental items, it makes it that much more special and unique to them.
Gwen and Josh decided to do a first look so they could spend as much time with their wedding guests after the ceremony as possible. The setting was perfect, and it might have been my favorite set of pictures from the day.
Most brides are freaking out in the days leading up to their wedding — finalizing last minute details for the big day. Gwen? Gwen made her wedding cake. How gorgeous is it? I love how it looks so effortless and put together at the same time.
Their first dance was to “No Fear in Love” by Steffany Gretzinger. It could not have been more perfect for them. And Grandma Pat down there in one of the last images? I told Josh I wanted to take her home with me. I hope I’m half that spunky when I’m in my 80s!
Gwen + Josh, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your special day. I wish you nothing but the best as you begin your lives together.
