FAQs

When should I contact you for my portraits?
If you are interested in booking a portrait or family session, I recommend that you contact me at least 4-6 weeks before your preferred session date. This is especially important during peak times like the fall and spring. Are we already within that time frame? Don't be afraid to ask. I sometimes have reschedules and dates can become available. Contact me today!

How do I reserve and pay for my session?
All booking is done electronically. Once we have secured a date and time, I will send you an invoice and a portrait agreement. A non-refundable reservation retainer and signed agreement are required within 48 hours to secure your time slot. The remaining balance will be due one week before your session date. Special mini-sessions offered throughout the year require payment in full due to limited spots.

What are your prices?
You can see a list of my standard session and product package offerings here. Most clients spend between $600-1,200 depending on their product selections. To secure your date, you will need to complete a portrait agreement and pay a non-refundable reservation retainer. The balance is due one week before your session.

What kind of sessions do you offer?
I currently offer the below session types, if you are interested in something else, please contact me!
-- Family
-- Milestone {for children}
-- Couple / Engagement
-- Senior
-- Maternity {best scheduled between 32 and 36 weeks}
-- Lifestyle
-- Weddings

Do you shoot newborns? At this time I am not booking any newborn sessions. I am more than happy to give you my referrals though, so please contact me anyways!

Will I receive the digital files?
Yes! All of my sessions include the high resolution, hand edited images. Every image that I love, you will receive! No choosing your favorites here. Please note you will only receive the pictures that make the cut for your gallery. Trust me, you don't want to see them all! I also highly recommend ordering prints and products through me. Let me help you select a beautiful collage for your entry way or create an album showcasing your entire session! While posting them on Facebook and Instagram is fun, your family will treasure physical prints and albums for years to come.

I don't see all the images in my gallery. Where did they go?
Not every image will pass my stringent guidelines to make it into your final gallery. There are many different factors that go into my selection processes, including but not limited to: composition, lighting, exposure, focus and my style.

Do you offer prints?
Yes, I do offer prints and a variety of different products as well. I use a professional lab printer and you will not be disappointed with the results! I always recommend that you consider purchasing prints and products from me, the quality is unbeatable, and I can help walk you through the entire process. I can design a leather album featuring your entire session, or I can help you display a gallery wall for your home. Keep in mind that we are creating art together, and art is meant to be displayed! Most of my clients spend an additional $50-800 on these products.

Why do your prints cost more? When you invest in professional photography, you should also invest in quality prints and products. I use professional labs that are calibrated to my computer. This ensures that your prints are going to look their best. Big box stores and one-hour print labs are just not the same quality.

How long until I get to see my images?
A sneak peak is usually posted on my Facebook or Instagram within a few days of your session. You will receive a link to your online gallery within 2-3 weeks (unless otherwise discussed). From the gallery, you can download your high resolution images and even order prints and products.

Can you photoshop this?
All images will be hand edited by me to enhance your natural beauty. But. I still want you to be you. Can I remove those blemishes? Of course! Red splotches? I'll do my best! Can I remove 20lbs or get rid of those braces? Probably not.

What should I wear?
The most important thing is that you are comfortable. If you aren't comfortable in what you're wearing, it will show in the final images. I would suggest wearing coordinating colors and focus less on being "matchy matchy." You want all of the outfits to flow together without being too similar. Also, don't forget that your feet may be in some of the pictures as well. The goal is to be a more polished version of your usual self. Once you book your session with me, I will send you a complete session prep and what to wear guide with more details as well. If you have more specific questions on this, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Will the images be posed?
Yes.... and no.... :) My goal is to get real, natural smiles. This means that a lot of the time you will be interacting with the others around you. I encourage tickling to get those laughs from kids, and I'm not above doing it myself either! Want to play tag? Go for it. Want to toss your little ones in the air? I'm game. I want to capture moments and memories, a peek into your lives. My sessions are not your typical posed portraits.

Do you travel? Your session fee includes travel within 25 miles of the zip code 78641, if you are interested in a location farther out than that, please contact me for pricing!

Where should the session be? I shoot on location, so we can go almost anywhere! If you have a specific location in mind, please let me know. I typically shoot in natural settings (parks, etc.). If you are looking for something more urban, I may not be the best fit for you, but I am happy to discuss our options! I also offer lifestyle sessions at your home.

What time should my session be?
My sessions are scheduled around sunrise or sunset. The exact time of the session will depend on the time of year, but most sessions are scheduled 90 minutes before sunset.

What is a lifestyle session?
A lifestyle session is when I come into your home and photograph you and your family in their natural element. These are best done around some type of family activity (baking, reading, making/eating dinner, playing). These sessions make art of the everyday life, capturing situations that are native to you and capture who you are. Almost all of these shots will be candid and natural looking. When I get to your home I will ask to walk around to figure out where the best light is and we will go from there. We may need to tidy up or rearrange furniture to get the best shots, but by *NO* means does your house have to look like a page out of Pottery Barn. Check out my lifestyle gallery or for some examples of sessions I've done in the past.

What if there is bad weather?
Unless you hear from me, the session is still on! The weather can change so quickly, it is best to wait until closer to the session time to make this call.

What if I need to cancel?
If someone is sick or there is an emergency please contact me as soon as possible to reschedule! A 48 hour notice is requested if possible. If you do need to cancel, you will have 30 days to reschedule your session.

Do you offer any discounts?
Repeat clients may receive special offers and referral credits. These offers are usually sent in newsletters or posted on my Facebook page. If you are a new client and have been referred by someone, be sure to let me know! You will receive a complimentary 8x10 print from your session, and they will receive a $30 print credit.

Professional photography can bring up many questions. If you don't see yours here, please feel free to contact me at any time.
